My name is Simon Pollard, I am 42 years old, a local entrepreneur, born in Leeds, I’ve spent the last 22 years building a number of successful businesses. I live and breathe business and have a true passion for making sure my customers are valued and at the very heart of what my business principles. I am extremely passionate, tenacious in my mission to achieve and secure success as I continue to build and develop leading brands, I work across a number of diverse industries and am founder and CEO  of Intouch Advance some 17 years ago which is an extremely exciting company.

In 2015, I was chosen as one of the Yorkshire’s stand out business leaders by one of the region’s top business journals, the Insider. The Insider’s “42 Under 42” programme recognises Yorkshire’s most dynamic and inspirational young entrepreneurs and celebrates their success in helping to grow the regional economy. According to the Insider it’s a “showcase of the region’s brightest business talent, the next generation of leaders” the “ones-to-watch” are listed in the annual “42 Under 42” list.

I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to work in the telecommunications industry, a fast moving, dynamic and every changing, yet challenging, fun sector has set me up to propel other business interests at the same time as running the day to day operations at Intouch Advance. I can honestly say that the last 23 years of working in the telecoms industry has infused my passion for delivering the very best in service. The future continues to be exciting across my portfolio as we go from strength to strength.

Chief Financial Officer

I qualified with a Geography degree from the University of Birmingham and decided to take a leap of faith and tackle accountancy.

My career to date represents almost 20 years as a proven accounting and finance professional, having spent the early part of my career as a practicing Chartered Accountant and Auditor managing a diverse client portfolio; and later qualifying as a Chartered Tax Advisor.  Since moving out of practice in 2004 I have performed several senior finance roles in FTSE100 companies, ranging across various sectors, including housebuilding, engineering, construction and telecoms.

I first became introduced to Intouch Advance on the other side of the fence, as one of their clients.  Impressed by the ethos of the company and flair to deliver the best experience to customers, I didn’t hesitate to jump on board when the opportunity arose.  Joining Intouch Advance in March 2017 as CFO, my responsibilities cover all aspects of finance, accounting, compliance, risk management and strategic planning.  My role extends across other portfolio companies within the group.  As a finance team, we are not just about number crunching in a quiet corner; Intouch Advance has a pulse.  I enjoy the dynamics of change and the challenges that come with a demanding business portfolio.  The teams here are very talented in what they do.  With innovative approaches and a commitment to ‘right first time’ mean we can respond to the agile business platform.

Whilst I’m very much committed to my career and I am extremely passionate about what I do, my role first and foremost is that of a mum.  With three young children I am a firm believer in getting the work-life balance right.  These days my time is family time, but in days past my background was one of sport.  I played several sports at a country, regional and national level.  Today I’m happy if I get the opportunity to go out for a run, and its even better if I’m joined by my 7 year old daughter and the dog.  I’d like to say I’m a good cook, but a fair appraisal would be that I’m not, but I do enjoy having a go!

Head of Finance

I have worked at Intouch for almost 10 years, having originally joined the company as an administrator with an accounts background. After 9 months I became the Billing Manager before being promoted to Head of Finance.

My role involves ensuring smooth day-to-day running of our finance department; maintaining sales, purchase and general ledgers and reporting directly to Julie Middleton, our group CFO. I enjoy assisting our customers and liaising with suppliers to help maintain strong relationships. Furthermore, I have a small team who I manage and support. It is a privilege to be a part of such a friendly and conscientious group of people.

I could definitely be labelled as a stereotypical ‘adrenaline junkie’: I have participated in bungee jumps and a sky dive, in order to raise money for charity. At the age of 19, I would often compete in ‘Reverse Rallies’. In the future, I hope to participate in a shark cage experience, on one of my many travels abroad.

I joined Intouch Advance back in June 2005 as PA to the Managing Director, some 13 years ago.  My previous career was working in the legal and professional recruitment industry, a fresh change was required, one of my objectives was to join a forward-thinking company with growth potential, whilst it was a little dauting it was exciting at the same time. Having met Simon and understood his aspirations I joined as his first employee and sought a new direction in the Telecoms industry.

Fast forward, thirteen years later I have not looked back and have developed many new skills and I am proud to be part of the team. I can honestly say that no two days are alike and look forward to all the daily challenges of working within a busy, progressive, and proactive office environment.  The Group has grown now and includes a number of businesses such as 42 The Calls Hotel, 22 Street Lane Nursery and Objectiv-x which is a medical device company supplying prosthetic arms around the world.

As PA at Intouch, my primary role is to support Simon as Group CEO.   This actively involves me undertaking many varied, and some challenging, tasks on a daily basis.  These can be anything from producing customer documentation and contracts, general office correspondence, making payments and even ordering stationery – the list is endless.

Outside of work I enjoy meeting up with family and friends, socialising, shopping and occasionally enjoying the odd glass of wine or two!

Head of A/C Management

My name is Melanie Close, I started working at Intouch in 2008, having worked in telecoms for 10 years prior this.

During my time at Intouch I have worked in various departments, mostly Sales and Account Management. In my current role of Head of Account Management I provide support to the Account Directors and Account Managers as well as managing a number of our Corporate Accounts specifically in terms of large projects such as mobile estate renewals, site moves and system implementations.

Intouch Advance is a great place to work, many of the key members of staff have been with us 8+ years and many of the accounts I manage have been customers since I started at Intouch, both of these factors make coming to work enjoyable, having built great relationships on both business and personal levels.

Outside of work I spend most of my time keeping my very demanding daughter entertained with various activities, we love a good holiday and spend as much time as school and work commitments will allow away somewhere in the sun!

Group IT Manager

My name is Wayne Leach, I am 46 years born in Bradford.

I have worked in IT for over 25 years and have worked for Intouch Advance for the last 9 years in the role of IT Manager.

Working at Intouch Advance has always been providing me with exciting challenges in the ever fast moving Telecommunications industry, helping me to further develop and demonstrate my skill set in many areas.

It has been a real privilege to work with such a dedicated, friendly team of people who have helped to grow the business over the many years I have been with them and long may that continue.

I have spent the last 12 years being heavily involved in coaching Junior football for which I have achieved my level 1 FA Coaching award.  I tend to spend a lot of my spare time following my 2 sons in their sporting activities, one being Junior football for which my youngest son plays for the team I am currently coaching, and the other is athletics for which my eldest boy has achieved many accolades in his career and hopes to go on to compete for the Irish National Team in the future.

John Cooper

Sales Director

I have worked within sales for the last 30 years and the telecoms arena for the last 15 years. All of this time Has been spent building, managing and mentoring best in class national sales teams.

I joined Intouch Advance in February 2018 and have been tasked with building the Direct Sales team up to a national head count of 20. Also on top of this I will be building a Telemarketing and Account Management team in house to generate our own sales leads and pro-actively manage all of the Intouch Advance customer accounts. During this process I will also be enhancing all current processes and procedures to improve the onboarding and management of our entire base of valued customers.

Outside of work I am a passionate sportsman. I played semi-professional rugby to the age of 35 and enjoy skiing at least once a year. Apart from this I have completed several triathlons and other cycling and running races. I have since slowed down in to my maturing years and enjoy spending weekends watching various sports and walking my dog in the Yorkshire Dales.

I chased and tackled a suspected bank robber when I was 21 years old. I had been working for the bank at the time and was behind the counter when a man held up two of the cashiers. I followed him from the bank chased him through the town and rugby tackled him through a shop door. He was arrested by the police and found to be an existing offender who had received a day out of prison to ‘re-introduce him to society’. I don’t think it really worked!

My name is Kelly, I joined the Intouch Advance team in June 2017 as Head of Marketing.

I graduated in 2002 with a HND in graphic design, I have been in a creative role ever since.

I hold a CIM qualification in Professional Marketing and have over 15 years’ experience in graphic design for print and digital, spanning across several industries.

I am responsible for marketing, brand and communication at Intouch Advance, I manage an ever-growing team of web designers, graphic designers and marketing executives. Myself and the team love marketing such an amazing brand; producing aesthetically eye pleasing visual materials that deliver key messages to our customers whilst championing an award-winning brand is our passion!

Outside of work most of my time is spent with my family; we enjoy days out exploring the local parks and country side with the latest addition to the family; our very excitable 9 month old puppy!
