Aidan won three races on Sunday, despite torrential rain! Aidan took first place with 11.3 seconds in the 100-meter race, managed to match his personal best and win the 200-metre race in 22.7 seconds, and together with the Bingley Harrier took place in the 4×100 relay race.
What a weekend it has been!
Competing with UK’s best at the English Schools Athletics Association (ESSA) Championships in Gateshead, Aidan got through to the Semi-finals of the 100-metre senior boys’ race by securing 4th place on Friday – video of the race is here.
Saturday saw Aidan race with the West Yorkshire Senior Boys 4 × 100-metre Relay Team, taking first place in the first heat and narrowly missed on first place by 600ths of a second in the finals – watch the race here!
Not only have Aidan’s team won the Silver Medal at the 4th largest athletics event in the World, but they are also officially the second fastest team in the UK with an impressive time of 41.78 seconds!
Aidan didn’t stop there, on Sunday he raced at Quibell Park Stadium in Scunthorpe, winning the 100-metre race and triple jump and coming second in the 4 x 100 metre relay.

Aidan has continued to race and been busy training for the ESAA Championships, his timetable will be as follows:

Aidan competed in Manchester at the Sport City Arena in the Northern Athletics Under 20/Senior Championships.
After coming 2nd in his heat in a time of 11.19 seconds Aidan then went on to achieve his season best with an electronic timing of 11.08 seconds finishing a very commendable 4th place against the finest sprinters in the North of England!
Woohoo! Aidan qualifies for the English Schools by achieving a fantastic time of 11.12 seconds at the West Yorkshire School’s Cleckheaton race, which put him in 2nd place. Congratulations!!
Aidan will be representing Yorkshire at the English Schools Athletic Association (ESAA) Championships, which are the 4th largest athletics event in the World. The event will take place at Gateshead International Stadium on 10th and 11th July.
Despite extreme winds and bad headwind, Aidan achieved his season’s best 5.58mtrs in the Long Jump at Spinkhill, Derbyshire.
Aidan then came in 1st position at the 100-metre race with a time of 11.28 seconds, and 1st place in the Triple Jump with 11.97mtrs which is a great result given the weather conditions.
The day successfully ended with Aidan bringing home the Baton in a comfortable 1st place in the 4x100mtrs.
Aidan gets first place at the West Yorkshire Track and Field League Competition at Cleckheaton with 11.19 seconds in the 100m, – if he keeps up this timing, he’ll qualify for the English School Finals!
A winning day at Hull! Aidan came first in the 100 metres, followed by 1st position in the 200 metres. Aidan and his team then completed the 4 by 100m relay race in first place (click to watch the race) – Brilliant results!
The race at Leeds City Open event on May 9th was a mixed result with Aidan achieving first place in the 100 metres race at 11.4 seconds, followed by 4th position in the 200-metre completed in 22.8 seconds, which is Aidan’s personal best speed.
A busy event at Cleckheaton Princess Mary Stadium, where Aidan won the triple jump and ran the 100-metre and 200-metre race, finishing in third and fourth place. In the four by 100 metres relay Aidan came second.
Next race: 25 April, West Yorkshire Track & Field League, Cleckheaton.
We have a winner! Aidan ran like the wind (it was so stormy that the high jump crash mats blew away!) and came first in the 100 metres race with a time of 11.2 seconds. Fantastic! Aidan also won a medal coming joint 3rd in the 200 metres race at Wakefield Spring Open Meeting yesterday.
It was a very cold and wet start to the season at Princes Mary Stadium, Cleckheaton, Bradford yesterday. After leading, Aidan then came 2nd in last 20 metres of the 200-metre race, he also came 2nd in the 100-metre race with a time of 11.4 seconds. Well done Aidan!
